We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Behaviour Mentor to join a Primary School based near Cambridge Heath, Bethnal Green and London Fields stations in East London.
This role is supporting pupils in different year groups, however it will be mainly based in KS2 (Years 4,5 and 6) with diverse behavioural needs. You will work closely with students, teachers, and families to foster positive behaviour, enhance social skills, and promote a safe and inclusive learning environment.
Your energetic approach will inspire confidence and motivation in students, helping them reach their full potential. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on young people's lives through proactive mentoring and tailored support strategies.
Responsibilities
- Build trusting relationships with students to encourage positive behavioral change and emotional well-being
- Implement individualized behavior management plans in collaboration with teaching staff and specialists
- Support students during classroom activities, breaks, and social interactions to promote appropriate conduct
- Use proactive strategies to de-escalate challenging behaviors and prevent disruptions
- Monitor student progress, document behavioral incidents, and communicate updates to relevant staff and families
- Assist in creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive school environment by promoting social skills and conflict resolution
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities focused on special education and youth mentoring
Qualifications
- Experience working with children or young people in educational or youth support settings
- Strong understanding of teaching methods, behavior management techniques, and special education needs
- Excellent mentoring skills with the ability to motivate and inspire students facing behavioral challenges
- Knowledge of youth work principles and strategies for supporting emotional development
- Effective communication skills for liaising with students, parents, teachers, and external professionals
- Ability to remain calm under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude toward student growth
