Duties
- Assist in the preparation and presentation of food items, ensuring they meet quality standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen and serving areas, adhering to food safety regulations.
- Serve food and beverages to customers, providing friendly and efficient service.
- Engage with customers to promote menu items, employing upselling techniques where appropriate.
- Handle cash transactions accurately and efficiently, utilising basic maths skills for till operations.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely food preparation and service during busy periods.
- Assist in inventory management by monitoring stock levels and reporting shortages as needed.
- Help maintain a positive atmosphere within the canteen by fostering good relationships with colleagues and customers.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a kitchen or restaurant environment is preferred but not essential.
- Knowledge of food safety practices is advantageous.
- Strong time management skills to handle multiple tasks effectively during peak hours.
- Basic culinary skills with an understanding of food preparation techniques.
- Ability to work well within a team as well as independently when required.
- Excellent communication skills, with a focus on customer service.
- A proactive attitude towards upselling menu items to enhance customer experience.
