Overview
To carry out the servicing, maintenance, fault finding, repairs, commissioning and small works associated with fire alarm, intruder alarm, CCTV and access control systems. The role involves providing a high standard of customer service whilst ensuring all work complies with current British Standards, legislation and company procedures.
Fire & Security Engineer Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) visits.
- Attend reactive breakdowns and fault calls.
- Diagnose and repair faults on fire and security systems.
- Complete small works and minor installations where required.
- Commission fire alarm and security systems where competent.
- Participate in the company's out-of-hours call-out rota.
- Ensure all work complies with current British Standards and manufacturer recommendations.
- Complete all electronic service reports and paperwork accurately.
- Record recommendations for remedial works.
- Maintain van stock and company equipment.
- Ensure all health and safety procedures are followed.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships.
- Liaise with customers regarding faults and required repairs.
- Escalate technical issues where appropriate.
- Attend training courses as required.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years' experience within the Fire & Security industry.
- Proven experience in servicing, maintaining and fault finding on addressable and conventional fire alarm systems.
- A recognised fire alarm qualification, such as the Level 3 Award in the Servicing and Maintenance of Fire Alarm Systems (or equivalent FIA qualification), is essential. Candidates who are actively working towards this qualification may also be considered.
- Good working knowledge of BS 5839-1 and current fire alarm industry standards.
- Good fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- IT literate and able to complete electronic service reports.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
- Willingness and ability to participate in the company's 24-hour emergency call-out rota, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays, in accordance with the rota schedule.
- Flexible approach to working hours to meet the operational needs of the business.
Pay: £40,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
