Responsible For
Deputy Manager, Team Leaders, Support Workers, Activity Coordinator and associated bank staff.
Job Purpose
To provide inspirational leadership and operational management of Queensbridge Specialist Respite Service, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, responsive and person-centred support for adults with learning disabilities, autism, behaviours that challenge and complex health needs.
The postholder will lead a highly skilled workforce to deliver outstanding outcomes for people accessing respite services whilst ensuring compliance with CQC regulations, contractual requirements, safeguarding responsibilities and organisational values.
The Registered Manager will promote a culture of positive risk-taking, reduction in restrictive practices, continuous improvement and co-production with people who use the service and their families.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Culture
- Provide visible, values-led leadership across the service.

Quality & Regulatory Compliance
- Maintain full compliance with CQC Regulations and Fundamental Standards.
- Lead quality assurance systems and service audits.
- Oversee Continuous Improvement Plans and action plans.
- Prepare for and lead CQC inspections.
- Ensure policies and procedures are implemented effectively.
- Monitor service performance and quality indicators.
Safeguarding & Human Rights
- Act as Safeguarding Lead for the service.
- Manage safeguarding concerns, investigations and outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
- Maintain oversight of DoLS and Court of Protection requirements.
- Promote human rights-based support.
- Ensure least restrictive practice principles are embedded throughout the service.
Positive Behavioural Support & Autism Practice
- Lead implementation of Positive Behavioural Support approaches.
- Monitor behavioural data and identify trends.
- Ensure behaviour support plans are regularly reviewed.
- Promote proactive and preventative interventions.
- Reduce restrictive practices and restrictive interventions.
- Work closely with PBS practitioners and specialist professionals.
Clinical Governance & Complex Health Needs
- Ensure safe delivery of delegated healthcare tasks.
- Oversee health action plans and specialist healthcare protocols.
- Work with clinical professionals to support:
- Epilepsy care.
- Rescue medication administration.
- PEG feeding.
- Diabetes management.
- Dysphagia management.
- Physical health monitoring.
- Ensure staff competency assessments are completed and maintained.
- Monitor medication systems and clinical incidents.
Admissions, Compatibility & Respite Coordination
- Lead assessment and admission processes.
- Ensure compatibility assessments are completed.
- Manage emergency and planned respite admissions.
- Balance occupancy requirements and emergency capacity.
- Ensure robust transition planning.
- Maintain positive outcomes for guests and families.
Family Engagement & Co-production
- Build trusted relationships with families and carers.
- Involve families in reviews and service development.
- Facilitate consultation events, family meetings and feedback forums.
- Respond constructively to complaints and concerns.
- Promote co-production in service design and delivery.
Workforce Management
- Recruit, develop and retain high-quality staff.
- Lead supervision, appraisal and performance management processes.
- Ensure compliance with mandatory and specialist training.
- Manage sickness absence and employee relations matters.
- Ensure effective staffing and rota management.
- Lead staff debriefing following significant incidents.
Financial & Contract Management
- Manage agreed service budgets.
- Monitor staffing costs and agency usage.
- Monitor occupancy rates and contractual KPIs.
- Produce required reports for commissioners and senior management.
- Participate in contract review meetings.
- Support future service development opportunities.
Partnership Working
- Develop effective relationships with:

- Ensure recommendations from multidisciplinary professionals are implemented effectively.

Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care (or equivalent).
- Registered Manager experience.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
