RSVP Resourcing is delighted to be supporting this friendly, professional and forward-thinking accountancy firm based in Edinburgh, looking for an enthusiastic Accounts & Payroll Trainee to join their Business Support Team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has studied Accounting or Finance, or who already has relevant qualifications, and is looking to build a long-term career in accountancy while working towards their ACCA qualification.
You don’t need to have everything figured out already. We’re looking for someone keen to learn, enjoys working with people, takes pride in doing things well and wants to develop their career with a supportive team around them.
This is a full-time, office-based role of 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
The company operate a flexible working pattern, allowing you to work your hours across the week so that you can reduce your working day on a Friday.

What will you be doing?
Your role will give you experience across both Accounts and Payroll departments, with approximately 30% of your time spent within Accounts and 70% within Payroll.
You'll gain hands-on experience working with a variety of clients and developing skills that will support you throughout your accountancy career.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Processing weekly, fortnightly and monthly payrolls for a range of clients
- Responding to payroll queries from clients and employees in a professional and friendly manner
- Preparing VAT returns and other routine accounting information
- Assisting with management accounts and year-end accounts preparation for sole traders, partnerships, limited companies and charities
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date client records
- Making sure client deadlines are consistently met
- Building positive relationships with clients and being responsive to their needs
- Learning from experienced colleagues and developing your accounting and payroll knowledge
Your professional development
This is a 4-year ACCA training contract, giving you the opportunity to earn while you learn and work towards a highly respected professional qualification.
£23,000 starting salary + £444 for each ACCA exemption gained
With all 9 exemptions completed, this could take your salary to £27,000.
On successful completion of your ACCA examinations, your salary will increase to £33,000, rising to £38,000 on completion of the 4-year training contract.
You will be supported throughout your studies and given the practical experience to complement your professional qualification.
Who are we looking for?
We'd particularly welcome applications from graduates or individuals who have studied Accounting, Finance or a related subject and are looking to take the next step towards becoming a qualified accountant.
You might already have some of the ACCA exemptions, or you may be at the beginning of your journey.
