Reviews Officer (Homelessness) – Housing
Hours: 36 Hours Per Week, Mon – Fri (Hybrid: 1–2 days in office)
Contract: 16 Week Temporary Contract (with possibility of extension)
We're recruiting a Reviews Officer to support the Housing Options & Support service with statutory homelessness reviews. This is a specialist role, ideal for someone experienced, detail-oriented, and confident working in a fast-paced local authority environment.
About the Role
As a Reviews Officer, you'll conduct statutory homelessness reviews under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996, ensuring decisions are legally sound and delivered within required timescales.
What you'll be doing:
- Conducting statutory s.202 homelessness reviews under the Housing Act 1996
- Reviewing decisions on duty owed, suitability, priority need, intentionality, and local connection
- Applying the Homelessness Code of Guidance, Review Regulations, and relevant case law
- Drafting clear, legally defensible review decision letters within statutory timescales
- Liaising with Housing Options & Support teams, Legal Services, and partner agencies
- Monitoring compliance and contributing to service improvements
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone proactive, analytical, and confident in managing complex housing cases.
You'll ideally have:
- Minimum 3 years' experience in homelessness/housing services
- Demonstrable experience conducting s.202 reviews
- Strong knowledge of the Housing Act 1996, HRA 2017, and relevant case law
- Experience working within a London local authority
- Excellent letter and report writing skills
- Ability to conduct detailed investigations and work under pressure
- Strong collaborative working skills across internal services
