Lead Manufacturing Excellence in the UK's High Voltage Industry
HV Energy Solutions Ltd is a rapidly growing specialist in the design, manufacture, installation and commissioning of protection & control panels, package substations, relay panels and HV electrical solutions for the UK's Transmission and Distribution networks.
As our business continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Production Manager to take ownership of our manufacturing facility, leading production teams and ensuring we consistently deliver high-quality products safely, on time and within budget.
This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who has progressed through panel building or electrical engineering and has extensive experience managing manufacturing operations within switchgear, control panels or electrical assemblies.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Operations Director, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of production, ensuring our manufacturing teams deliver projects to the highest quality standards whilst driving continuous improvement throughout the business.
You will oversee production planning, resource allocation, quality, engineering coordination and delivery performance across multiple concurrent projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the factory production team, including panel wiremen, fitters, apprentices and production supervisors.
- Plan and schedule manufacturing activities to achieve customer delivery dates.
- Ensure production is delivered safely, efficiently and within budget.
- Coordinate closely with Engineering, Procurement, Stores, Commercial and Commissioning departments.
- Monitor manufacturing progress and remove production bottlenecks.
- Review engineering drawings, BOMs and manufacturing packs before production release.
- Ensure products are manufactured to customer specifications and relevant industry standards.
- Maintain excellent quality standards throughout manufacture and factory acceptance testing.
- Support FATs (Factory Acceptance Tests) with customers and consultants.
- Drive Lean Manufacturing, 5S and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop production KPIs including productivity, quality, labour utilisation and on-time delivery.
- Recruit, mentor and develop production personnel and apprentices.
- Carry out performance reviews and training plans.
- Work with suppliers to improve product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping and a strong safety culture.
We're Looking For Someone With
- Significant experience managing production within electrical manufacturing.
- Strong background in control panels, protection panels, switchgear or LV/HV electrical assemblies.
- Previous experience leading production teams within a manufacturing environment.
- Excellent understanding of manufacturing processes from fabrication through wiring, testing and final inspection.
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings, schematics and engineering documentation.
- Strong production planning and scheduling experience.
- Experience working with bespoke customer projects rather than mass production.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to solve technical and manufacturing challenges quickly.
- Commercial awareness and experience managing production costs.
- High attention to detail with a commitment to quality.

- BS EN 61439
- IEC Standards
- AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical
- Autodesk Fusion Operations or other MRP/ERP systems
- Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)
- Electrical testing and commissioning
- Lean Manufacturing
- Continuous Improvement
- Apprenticeship development
Qualifications
Ideally you will hold one or more of the following:
- HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
- NVQ Level 4+ in Management or Engineering
- IOSH or NEBOSH
- SSSTS or SMSTS
- CSCS (desirable)
Equivalent experience will also be considered.
