Registered Nurse – Paediatric Complex Care
Location: S71, Barnsley
Hourly Rate: £25.00 per hour
Shift Pattern: 12-hour shifts
Days Required: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday
Support: 2:1 care
Contract Type: Permanent – Full-time and Part-time opportunities available
About the Role
Josh’s Care Company is looking for an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse to join a dedicated team providing 2:1 care to a 7-year-old girl with significant complex and palliative care needs.
You will work closely with the child’s family, support workers, Josh’s Care Company’s nursing team and other healthcare professionals to provide safe, responsive and person-centred care.
The child has a range of complex health needs, including:
- Four-limb dystonic cerebral palsy with dystonic spasms
- Epilepsy and seizures
- Post-haemorrhagic hydrocephalus and VP shunt
- Cognitive and visual impairment
- GORD
- Gastrostomy and PEG-J feeding
- Neuro-enteric failure
- Obstructive sleep apnoea
- Nocturnal high-flow respiratory support
- Complex palliative care needs
She also has a midazolam syringe driver and buccal midazolam as part of her clinical management.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering safe and compassionate 2:1 nursing care
- Medication administration and management
- Epilepsy and seizure management
- PEG/PEG-J and enteral feeding
- Supporting and monitoring respiratory needs
- Nocturnal high-flow therapy
- Suctioning and oxygen therapy where required
- Pain and symptom management
- Supporting palliative care plans
- Monitoring changes in the child’s condition and escalating concerns appropriately
- Supporting personal care and mobility needs
- Maintaining accurate clinical records
- Working closely with family members, support workers and healthcare professionals
- Providing clinical leadership and guidance within the care team
What We’re Looking For
To be considered for this role, you will need:
- Current NMC registration
- Experience within nursing or complex care
- A compassionate and professional approach
- Confidence managing complex clinical needs
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Flexibility to work 12-hour shifts
- Enhanced DBS check – we can apply for this on your behalf if required
- Driving licence and access to a vehicle is preferred
Experience in paediatric care, palliative care, epilepsy, PEG feeding, respiratory support or cerebral palsy would be particularly advantageous.
Package-specific training and competency assessments will be provided.
