Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Montessori Nursery Teacher or EYFS Nursery Teacher to join our early childhood education team in Purley, South London. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the Montessori philosophy or EYFS framework and a genuine love for nurturing young children in their formative years. You will be responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and supportive learning environment that fosters independence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning.
Key Responsibilities:
Montessori Curriculum Delivery:
- Implement the Montessori method to guide children aged 2-4 years old in their cognitive, social, and emotional development.
- Prepare and maintain an environment that aligns with Montessori principles, including the selection and organization of materials.
- Plan and execute daily activities that encourage exploration, creativity, and practical life skills.
Child Development:
- Observe each child’s individual development and adjust the curriculum and activities to meet their needs.
- Encourage self-directed learning and independence while providing appropriate guidance.
- Monitor and document children’s progress through detailed records and reports, communicating regularly with parents.
Classroom Management:
- Maintain a calm, respectful, and organized classroom environment that reflects Montessori principles.
- Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order within the classroom.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive atmosphere where children learn respect for themselves, others, and their environment.
Parent Communication:
- Engage with parents regularly, providing updates on their child’s progress and discussing any concerns.
- Conduct parent-teacher meetings to discuss developmental milestones, achievements, and areas for improvement.
- Offer guidance to parents on how to support their child’s Montessori education at home.
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with other staff members to ensure the smooth running of the nursery.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and collaborative planning.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the nursery’s educational practices and environment.
Health & Safety:
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
- Manage and respond to any emergencies or injuries according to the nursery’s policies and procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness and order in the classroom, ensuring materials are sanitized and safe for use.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Educational Background:
- Montessori Diploma or equivalent qualification recognized by the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE).
- A recognized Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) qualification is desirable.
- Paediatric First Aid certification is a plus.
Experience:
- Proven experience working with children aged 2-4 years old in a Montessori or early childhood education setting.
- Familiarity with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework in England is beneficial.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of child development and the Montessori educational approach.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Patience, creativity, and a nurturing disposition.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Pay: £12.00-£14.50 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 45 per week
Schedule:
- 10 hour shift
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- No weekends

- Purley, Greater London: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
