Full Job Description
Registered Vet Nurse (Full Time)- North Finchley
Salary: upto £33-35k per annum + team bonus + other perks (see below)
Looking for a corporate gig? This isn’t it. We’re an independent, growing 3-vet small animal practice owned by me, Oli—a practicing vet, not a suit. Joining us means shaping the future of our practice as we expand.
Our clients are unusually great (that’s because we fire the nasty ones!!) and have learnt that we provide an exceptional level of care, understanding and communication to really, truly help them and their pets.
BUT:
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…we are not the perfect vet practice!!
That might be a funny thing to put in a job advert – but I want you to know that we are honest about our flaws. In fact we are honest about everything. That’s how we create a culture and working environment where people feel supported and heard. Where clients feel listened to and that their concerns are addressed in a competent and compassionate way. Our vision is simple:
To become the UK's most trusted veterinary practice by combining exceptional medicine with an exceptional client experience and we know that if we look after our team, they look after our clients.
Do we get it right all of the time?...No!
Do we aspire to be better every day?...Absolutely Yes!
About the Role:
We’re searching for a registered vet nurse – we would be just as happy if you are newly qualified or if you have loads of experience – we have plenty of expertise in the practice to help you learn and develop. Job Requirements:
● Able to work collaboratively within a team environment
● Just as comfortable with people as pets – excellent client communications help us to build trust
● Happy with or happy to learn all elements of veterinary nursing – from managing sick pets to anaesthetics, from weight clinics to theatre prep.
● Nurse clinics – these are massively important to us – they take pressure off of the vets, but this is the least important reason for them – more importantly, they allow clients to interact with the whole clinical team and to benefit from the amazing expertise of our nurses.
● Be an ambassador for The Finchley Vet in the vet industry and wider community
Proposed Schedule:
Monday: 8:30am–5:00pm
Tuesday: 12:00pm–7:30pm
Wednesday: 12:00pm–7:30pm
Thursday: 8:30am–4:00pm
Friday: 10:30am–6:00pm (preferred) , or alternatively a rotating 8:30am–4:00pm / 12:00pm–7:30pm shift
Saturday: 9:00am–1:30pm (one in three)
We pay all the hours of your shift – including your lunch breaks – but that doesn’t mean we expect you to work over lunch – in fact we are militant about protecting lunch breaks for all of our team.
Our recently revamped main practice includes a spacious kitchen, team room, and a shower for those who cycle, gym, or need to freshen up. Clinically, we have x-ray, ultrasound, a dedicated theatre, separate cat and dog wards, peripatetic specialists (Ortho and ST surgery, ophtho, endoscopy, cardiology), a bronchoscope, dedicated dental suite (with dental xrays) – and…clients who will usually allow us to use them!!
About you:
You will have a passion for Vet Nursing, wanting to work as part of team to achieve more than we could achieve individually.
You will be a Veterinary Nurse (registered with the RCVS) – this role would suit a nurse who has 0-5 years of post qualification experience, but we would be more than delighted to hear from you if you are more experienced.
Perks & Benefits:
● 5.6 weeks + a day off on your birthday
● Private medical insurance (up to £50/month).
● Fitness allowance (up to £20/month for memberships or £150/year for gear).
● Enhanced parental leave.
● In-house training and external lunch-and-learns.
● 2 CPD days/year with £1,500 allowance (more if it benefits our service provision).
● Team bonus scheme—not individual bonuses – because we work together, then we succeed together.
● Staff discounts, including free consultations for all our team.
