Horticultural Nursery Assistant
Parker's Nurseries Ltd is an independent wholesale plant nursery, with a 25-year tradition of growing and supplying quality plants to Garden Centres. We currently have an opportunity for a Horticultural Nursery Assistant to join our team on a permanent basis. You will carry out general nursery duties as listed below, which will include operating a Forklift Truck for which you must be able to demonstrate recent experience.

Position: Horticultural Nursery Assistant
Working Hours: A standard working week for a full time member of the team is 37.5 hours. however, actual hours of work will vary due to the seasonal nature of the business. It is expected that employees will work a reasonable amount of overtime during the peak periods to meet customer demand.
Weekend working will be required.
The site closes for 2 weeks at Xmas
Pay: Will be dependent on experience and hours worked
Duties:
· Planting and plant care
· Labelling plant pots and packs
· Moving stock(Forklift with specially adapted forks used for this task)
· Spacing plants((Forklift with specially adapted forks used for this task)
· Stopping and grading plants
· Watering
· Picking customer orders
· Producing seasonal planted arrangements
· Other duties as required
Additional training will be provided to operate plant/machinery where applicable
Personal Qualities:
· Self-motivated with a can-do attitude and willingness to learn
· Hardworking with a good level of physical fitness
· Ability to follow instructions and concentrate for long periods
· Positive and friendly manner
· Ability to working on their own, as well as in a team
· Good Health & Safety awareness in order to operate a Forklift in a busy nursery
Further Information:

· Some of the work can be repetitive
· Working in glasshouses can be very warm in late spring and summer months
PLEASE NOTE: Following an initial interview you will then be required to attend a practical session where you will be required to demonstrate you are competent to operate a Forklift Truck.

Pay: £27,000.00-£32,000.00 per year
