Job Summary
We are currently seeking experienced and motivated HGV Technicians to join our maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for the inspection, servicing, and repair of our HGV fleet, ensuring all vehicles remain safe, compliant, and operational.
The ideal candidates will have strong hands-on experience with heavy vehicles and a proactive approach to maintenance, fault finding, and safety.
Shift pattern
Specific Responsibilities and Objectives
- Ensure that all vehicles are MOT prepared within operating licence timescales.
- Ensure that all vehicles are serviced on time and in full.
- All Inspections to be carried out on time and in full.
- All repairs to be carried out on time and in full.
- All timescales to be in line with DVSA and Operators Licence requirements.
- Complete relevant paperwork to comply with health and safety and food safety standards and to track the service provided.
- Provide excellent customer service with a proactive attitude
- Operate relevant MHE (if applicable / permitted & authorised) safely and in accordance with the correct procedures
- Report any accidents as soon as possible and in compliance with Buffaload Logistics’ accident reporting procedure
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including the Uniform Guidelines and Health and Safety Policy
- To promote a positive health and safety culture through your individual actions.
- Ensuring that all works carried out within fridge trailers are carried out using food safe chemicals and any issue that may have a negative effect on food safety is reported without delay.
- Carry out other relevant reasonable management requests as required by your Line Manager
- To ensure that all work completed is recorded in electronic or paperwork versions as required, thereby ensuring a full audit trail of work is available for inspection at all times.
Qualifications
- IRTEC, City & Guilds Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or BTEC National Certificate in Vehicle Repair and Technology
Experience
- Have excellent knowledge about motor technology.
- Being methodical and organised and ability to work to strict deadlines
- Previous experience working within a similar role, business and / or industry
Other Criteria
- Excellent communication and customer service skills; towards colleagues and customers
- Must be physically active due to the nature of the role, dealing with heavy goods
- Must be fluent in English due to the nature of the role; being in constant communication with Planning teams, Operations teams and customers both in person and on the phone. Ability to work alone and be self-motivated
