Our Chargehands and Operatives work in busy car parks, ensuring shopping trolleys are collected from allocated areas of the car park and returned to customer pick-up points in a good, clean condition. This may be on foot or with the assistance of a Quikart or vehicle.
Our team also offer customers assistance with loading their cars, ensure car parks are free of litter, and help create a safe, welcoming environment for shoppers. In short, our job is to give customers the best possible shopping experience in the best possible shopping environment by adopting our company values.
As a Chargehand, you will take on additional supervisory responsibilities and will assume responsibility for the site in the absence of the Site Supervisor. You will support the day-to-day operation by supervising the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Assume responsibility for the site in the absence of the Site Supervisor in line with shift patterns.
- Carry out trolley collection duties and ensure all trolley bays and customer pick-up points remain stocked and tidy.
- Undertake onsite cleaning duties and ensure trolley areas are free from litter.
- Supervise and support team members, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Monitor operational performance of staff under your control and provide guidance where required.
- Ensure all customer requirements are fulfilled whilst maximising the efficiency of labour resources.
- Liaise with store management and colleagues to develop and maintain excellent customer relationships.
- Oversee the collection and return of abandoned trolleys, ensuring they are clean and ready for customer use.
- Complete weekly staff rosters and assist with workforce planning.
- Provide training, coaching and support to team members to ensure they can fulfil their contractual duties effectively.
- Accurately record and submit timesheets to Head Office in a timely manner.
- Deal professionally with customer enquiries and complaints, escalating issues to your direct line manager where appropriate.
- Carry out general maintenance, inspections, cleaning and minor repairs to the trolley fleet on site.
- Act as a communication link between the workforce and the Regional Manager.
What we need from you

- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- A valid driver’s license is preferred / but not essential.

Hours of work 37 hours per week, shifts vary between Sunday to Saturday

Pay: £14.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
