Job Description: Local Land Charges Officer (Secretarial and Administration)
Providing Accurate and Efficient Local Land Charges Services
Bradford Council is seeking a Local Land Charges Officer to join the Britannia House team. This role is key in delivering accurate Local Land Charges searches, maintaining official records, and supporting high-quality property and land information services for internal teams and external customers.
This position is ideal for someone detail-oriented, organised, and committed to maintaining high standards in administrative and legal record management.
About the Role
As a Local Land Charges Officer, you will be responsible for carrying out Local Land Charges searches, maintaining statutory records, and ensuring all information is processed accurately and in compliance with legal and council requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carrying out Local Land Charges searches accurately and within required timescales
- Maintaining and updating Local Land Charges records and registers
- Responding to enquiries from internal teams and external customers efficiently
- Ensuring all information is recorded correctly and in line with legal requirements
- Assisting with administrative tasks related to land charges services
- Supporting the team in meeting service deadlines and performance targets
- Handling and processing documentation with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Maintaining compliance with relevant procedures, policies, and data standards
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Previous experience working as a Local Land Charges Officer or in a similar land charges or property-related administrative role
- Strong understanding of Local Land Charges processes and procedures
- Excellent administrative and data entry skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to manage workload effectively and meet strict deadlines
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Desirable:
- Experience working within a local authority or public sector environment
- Familiarity with Local Land Charges systems or property/land records software
- Understanding of property, land, or planning records and related legislation
