Stannp.com is a direct mail platform that has delivered impressive growth over the last few years, growth which has been acknowledged and recognised by the tech industry press.
Stannp is looking to build on these achievements by scaling further.
To support this growth, Stannp are seeking an Engineer who will maintain and optimise all production machinery and equipment to maximise operational efficiency and minimise downtime. This role involves conducting preventative maintenance, diagnosing and resolving equipment failures, fabricating parts, and ensuring all machinery meets health and safety legislation requirements. The Engineer will work closely with Production Managers and the engineering team to support continuous improvement initiatives, while maintaining compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 27001 standards.
This is a full time, on-site role based at our facility in Barnstaple, North Devon. You must therefore be a commutable distance.
Responsibilities
- Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance (weekly, fortnightly, and monthly) for all production equipment, coordinating timing with Production Managers to minimise disruption
- Diagnose and resolve equipment breakdowns using systematic fault-finding techniques, including manuals, online research, point-to-point testing, and component substitution
- Test, operate, maintain, and repair all machinery including digital printers, inkjet printers, envelope inserters, guillotines, folding machines, air compressors, and fabrication equipment
- Fabricate replacement parts in-house using lathe, milling machine, pillar drill, and bench fitting equipment
- Maintain accurate service records and equipment documentation in line with ISO requirements
- Liaise with Production Managers to schedule maintenance activities that align with production demands
- Provide technical advice and training to warehouse staff to help prevent recurring equipment issues
- Work collaboratively with the engineering team, sharing knowledge and supporting complex repairs
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, preventative maintenance schedules, and procedures in line with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 27001 standards
Attributes
- No formal qualifications required — we're just as interested in a strong aptitude to learn and a genuine passion for engineering
- Practical, hands-on experience in machinery maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair
- Competent in using fabrication equipment, including lathe, milling machine, and pillar drill
- Strong problem-solving skills with a systematic, methodical approach to fault-finding
- Able to read and interpret technical manuals and diagrams
- Basic understanding of health & safety regulations and ISO standards
- Effective communicator with good verbal and written skills
- Strong team player who works well under pressure and can manage multiple priorities
