Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Gate Automation Service Engineer to join our specialised team. This role involves providing comprehensive maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting services for gate automation systems across various sites. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, including electrical and mechanical. Your responsibilities will include servicing, fault diagnosis, repair, and safety compliance of automated gate systems, barriers, bollards, and associated equipment. Duties
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive service works in accordance with DHF guidance, manufacturer instructions, and company procedures
- Service, maintain and fault find on systems including automated gates, automatic barriers, rising and fixed bollards
- Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults safely and efficiently
- Work on systems including those manufactured by DEA, BFT, FAAC, NICE, BENINCA, and SEA
- Inspect, test, and verify safety devices
- Carry out force testing, risk assessments, and safety evaluations in line with DHF guidance and relevant British and European Standards
- Identify non-compliant or unsafe systems and report findings in accordance with company and DHF procedures
- Complete service reports, force test records, risk assessments, and job documentation accurately
- Communicate professionally with customers, site managers, and colleagues
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety legislation, including safe systems of work.
- Participate in an out-of-hours emergency call-out rota when required
Experience
- Proven experience as a gate automation/service engineer
- Familiarity with schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals is required.
- Experience with construction projects or telecommunication infrastructure is advantageous
- Good understanding of gate safety principles, force limitation, and safe operation
- Background knowledge of roller shutters or industrial doors (preferred)
- Hands-on experience using hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment is necessary
- Knowledge of IDS (Intrusion Detection Systems) integration will be considered a significant benefit
- Previous work involving system troubleshooting in complex environments such as industrial sites or commercial premises is preferred
