Jim Lawrence are looking for a friendly, organised and proactive HR Advisor to join our HR team on a part-time basis for 20 hours per week. Working alongside another HR Advisor, you'll provide day-to-day HR support across the business, helping managers and employees throughout the employee lifecycle.
This is a varied generalist role where no two days are the same. You'll play an important part in ensuring our people receive a professional, confidential and supportive HR service while helping us maintain best practice and compliance.
Employee Support
- Act as the first point of contact for HR queries from employees and managers.
- Provide practical HR advice and guidance in line with company policies and employment legislation.
- Support managers with absence management, capability, disciplinary, grievance and other employee relations matters as appropriate.
- Assist with probation reviews, performance reviews and other HR meetings.
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Support recruitment activities, including advertising vacancies, arranging interviews and communicating with candidates.
- Prepare employment contracts, offer letters and onboarding documentation.
- Coordinate the onboarding process for new employees and support a positive employee experience from day one.
Employee Administration
- Maintain accurate employee records, ensuring confidentiality at all times.
- Process employee lifecycle changes, including starters, leavers and contractual amendments.
- Administer employee benefits and respond to employment reference requests.
- Maintain holiday, absence and other HR records.
HR Operations
- Ensure HR policies and procedures are applied consistently and assist with keeping the Employee Handbook up to date.
- Prepare HR reports, spreadsheets and management information as required.
- Provide payroll with accurate employee information and changes.
- Liaise with external providers including pension providers, training organisations and Occupational Health.
- Maintain HR files in line with GDPR requirements and company retention policies.
- Keep up to date with employment legislation and HR best practice.
Team Support
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the business.
- Provide support and cover for other members of the HR team when required.
- Undertake other reasonable duties appropriate to the role.
Essential Skills
- Previous experience in a HR role.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to build positive working relationships with employees and managers.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Able to prioritise a varied workload and work independently.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
