Lecturer in Carpentry, Joinery & Multi-Skills
Northumberland Skills, part of Northumberland County Council, is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Lecturer in Carpentry, Joinery & Multi-Skills to join our expanding Construction team at our industry-focused training facilities in Northumberland.

Working with both full-time learners and apprentices, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality teaching and training, helping learners develop the skills, knowledge, and behaviours required for successful careers within the construction industry.
You will contribute to an innovative curriculum that reflects industry needs, inspire learners to achieve their full potential, and work closely with employers to ensure our programmes remain relevant, engaging, and responsive to local and regional skills priorities.
The successful candidate will join a forward-thinking organisation that is investing in modern facilities, expanding provision, and building strong partnerships with industry to create outstanding opportunities for learners and apprentices across Northumberland.
Market Force Allowance
A Market Force Allowance may be applied to the main scale salary, depending on qualifications, skills, and relevant industry experience.
Who We Are Looking For
We welcome applications from:

Experienced Carpentry, Joinery, Construction or multiskilled Lecturers, Trainers and Assessors.

Qualified Carpenters, Joiners, Site Supervisors, Construction Professionals and other skilled tradespeople looking to transition into education.

Individuals who are passionate about sharing their knowledge and developing the next generation of construction talent.
Applicants should possess:
-
A Level 3 qualification or above in Carpentry, Joinery, Construction or a related discipline.

Significant industry experience within the construction sector, with expertise in carpentry, joinery and/or multi-skills trades.

Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
-
A commitment to delivering outstanding learning experiences and learner outcomes.
-
The ability to inspire and motivate learners and apprentices to achieve their full potential and progress into successful careers within the construction industry.
A teaching qualification and assessor qualification are desirable; however, support will be provided for the right candidate to achieve these qualifications whilst in post. We are particularly keen to hear from experienced industry professionals who are looking to bring their practical knowledge and expertise into a rewarding career in education.
