Job Title: Finance Manager
Location: Lancaster area
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000
Reporting to: Owner / Managing Director
Butler Rose are working exclusively retained with a well-established, family-run business based in Lancaster area, known for its strong values, long-standing customer relationships, and commitment to quality. With continued growth and investment in the future, the business is now looking to appoint a dedicated Finance Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day finance function and provide valuable commercial insight to support strategic decision-making.
The Role:
This is a key, hands-on role within the business, working closely with the owner and wider team. You will take responsibility for producing timely and accurate management information while overseeing a small accounts team handling transactional duties. This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially minded accountant who enjoys variety, autonomy, and being embedded in the heart of the business.
Key Responsibilities:

Preparation of monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet and cash flow reporting

Budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis

Business partnering with the owner to support strategic and operational decisions

Oversight of purchase ledger, sales ledger, and credit control functions

Managing cash flow and working capital

VAT returns and compliance reporting

Supporting year-end processes and liaising with external accountants

Continuous improvement of financial systems and processes

Ad-hoc analysis and project support as required
About You:

Qualified or Part-Qualified Accountant (CIMA / ACCA / ACA) or qualified by experience

Previous experience in a hands-on SME or family business environment desirable

Strong management accounts and commercial finance experience

Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across all areas of the business

Proactive, detail-oriented, and confident working independently

Strong Excel and accounting software skills (Sage, Xero, or similar)
