Perched above the Whitstable coastline, the Crescent Turner Hotel hosts weddings, private events, celebrations, and a busy restaurant operation. We're building a high-performance hospitality team focused on exceptional guest experiences and are looking for a talented Sous Chef who wants to play a key role in our continued growth.
This is more than a typical Sous Chef position. We are looking for someone who takes ownership, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and wants to help build systems, standards, and a kitchen culture that delivers exceptional food consistently across both restaurant service and events.
Working closely with our Executive Chef and management team, you will be trusted to lead services, support the development of junior chefs, and help drive quality, organisation, and efficiency throughout the kitchen.
What You'll Be Doing
- Supporting the Executive Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen
- Leading kitchen services and ensuring food leaves the pass to a consistently high standard
- Assisting with menu development, seasonal dishes, and event menus
- Helping to deliver weddings, private functions, celebrations, and corporate events
- Training, mentoring, and motivating junior kitchen team members
- Managing prep, service, and kitchen organisation during busy periods
- Maintaining excellent food hygiene, HACCP, and health & safety standards
- Supporting stock management, ordering, and waste control
- Working collaboratively with front-of-house and events teams to ensure exceptional guest experiences
We're Looking For Someone Who
- Has experience as a Sous Chef, Junior Sous Chef, or a strong Chef de Partie ready for the next step
- Leads by example and remains calm under pressure
- Takes pride in consistency, presentation, and attention to detail
- Enjoys coaching and developing others
- Has experience working in busy kitchens with varying service styles
- Understands both restaurant service and event catering operations
- Brings energy, professionalism, and a positive attitude to the team every day
