Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable, compassionate, and experienced Minibus Driver to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely transporting disabled adults to and from the day care centre and community activities, ensuring passengers travel comfortably, safely, and on time. This role requires excellent driving skills, a caring and professional attitude, and the ability to provide outstanding support and customer service to service users, families, carers, and colleagues. Previous experience in community transport, passenger transport, or health and social care is highly desirable.
Duties
- Safely operate a minibus in accordance with road traffic laws, safeguarding policies, and organisational procedures.
- Transport disabled adults to and from the day care centre, appointments, and community activities in a safe, respectful, and timely manner.
- Carry out daily vehicle safety checks and report any defects or maintenance issues promptly.
- Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking the vehicle, including operating wheelchair lifts and securing wheelchairs and mobility equipment where required.
- Ensure all passengers are safely seated and secured before starting each journey.
- Maintain accurate journey logs and vehicle records.
- Communicate effectively with the day care team, families, carers, and management regarding schedules, delays, or any concerns.
- Provide friendly, patient, and respectful support to all passengers, promoting dignity, independence, and wellbeing.
- Follow all safeguarding, health and safety, infection control, and manual handling procedures.
- Keep the vehicle clean, tidy, and roadworthy at all times and assist with other reasonable duties as required.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s licence with a clean driving record.
- Previous experience driving a minibus, community transport vehicle, or in a similar passenger transport role.
- Experience working with disabled people, older adults, or individuals with additional support needs is highly desirable.
- A caring, patient, and compassionate approach with a strong commitment to providing excellent customer service.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with service users, families, carers, and colleagues.
- Ability to safely assist passengers with boarding and disembarking, including the use of wheelchair lifts and securing mobility equipment where required.
- Good knowledge of road safety regulations and confidence in planning routes using GPS or maps.
- Physically fit and able to assist passengers when required, following safe manual handling procedures.
- An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one) and completion of any mandatory safeguarding training.
Pay: £12.71-£13.00 per hour
