We're seeking a full time 'House Manager' for our busy children's daycare nursery in St.Leonards. Applicants must have relevant experience.
1. Purpose of the Role
To support the safe, efficient, and hygienic preparation of healthy meals and snacks for children aged 0–5, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and organisation within the nursery kitchen. The role enables nursery staff to remain fully focused on supporting children during meal and snack times.
2. Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation & Service
- Prepare nutritious, age-appropriate meals and snacks in line with nursery menus, allergy requirements, and dietary guidelines.
- Ensure all food is prepared following current Food Hygiene and Safer Food Better Business guidelines.
- Portion and present food attractively, ensuring correct textures and portion sizes for different age groups.
- Ensure food is delivered to rooms on time to support smooth and calm meal routines.
Support for Nursery Rooms
- Work in partnership with room staff to ensure they can remain with the children during meal times.
- Help organise snack trays, water jugs, weaning equipment, cutlery, plates, bowls, and additional items required for safe mealtime routines.
- Communicate clearly with staff regarding dietary changes, allergies, or menu updates.
Kitchen Organisation & Stock Management
- Prepare and maintain a daily list of food, drink, ingredients, and equipment needed for meal preparation and cleaning.
- Monitor stock levels and ensure sufficient supplies are ordered.
- Rotate stock method and ensure all food is stored safely and correctly.
- Receive and check deliveries, reporting issues or discrepancies.
Health, Safety & Hygiene
- Maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen at all times, following statutory hygiene regulations.
- Complete daily cleaning schedules, including surfaces, equipment, appliances, and food storage areas.
- Ensure all equipment is used safely and maintained in good working order.
- Follow robust allergy-management procedures to avoid cross-contamination.
- Record fridge and freezer temperatures daily and report any issues immediately.
- Wear appropriate PPE and follow the nursery’s Food Safety Management System.
- Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety policies, including COSHH, manual handling, and infection control.
General Duties
- Support with washing up and cleaning duties throughout the day.
- Participate in relevant training, including food hygiene and health & safety.
- Contribute to a positive team environment and uphold the nursery’s values.
- Carry out any reasonably requested duties that support the smooth running of the nursery.
Pay: £25,760.00 per year
