We are seeking an experienced Multiskilled Engineer to join our engineering team supporting the Queen Elizabeth Hospital contract in Birmingham. This is a critical role within a fast-paced healthcare environment, helping to ensure the hospital estate remains safe, compliant and fully operational at all times.
The successful candidate will work across a shift-based maintenance team delivering planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive repairs and engineering support across acute healthcare facilities.
The Role:
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across hospital facilities
- Ensure all engineering works are completed in line with contractual KPIs and healthcare standards (HTM)
- Maintain accurate records using CAFM and digital management systems
- Support operational delivery across the QEH estate, Mental Health Unit and retained estate where required
- Respond promptly to breakdowns and emergency repairs
- Work safely and in compliance with all Health & Safety regulations and statutory guidance
- Interpret technical drawings and specifications independently
- Support lifecycle planning and condition surveys through accurate reporting
- Maintain workshops and work areas in a clean and safe condition
- Work within sensitive hospital environments including ITU, A&E, Operating Theatres and Mortuary areas when required
Requirements:Essential:
- Indentured apprenticeship or equivalent engineering training
- Healthcare or Healthcare PFI experience
- Relevant City & Guilds qualifications in Mechanical or Electrical disciplines
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (for electrical applicants)
- Strong fault-finding and maintenance experience
- Ability to work independently and within a team
Desirable:
- AP/CP qualifications
- HTM experience and Authorised Person status
- HV/LV experience
- IOSH / NEBOSH qualifications
- HNC/HND or Degree in Engineering discipline
- IPAF / Confined Spaces certification
