Jack Nicholas Group is a specialist metalwork and fabrication company providing architectural metalwork, precision sheet metalwork and fabricated products for commercial projects.
We are looking for an organised and detail-focused Production & Purchasing Administrator to support our production and purchasing operations.
The role will involve using our MIE Trak manufacturing system, loading quotations and works orders, ordering materials, managing purchase orders and ensuring materials arrive on time to keep production running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Use and maintain information within the MIE Trak ERP/MRP system.
- Enter and process customer quotations.
- Load and manage works orders for production.
- Ensure job information is entered accurately and kept up to date.
- Raise purchase orders for materials, components and subcontracted services.
- Order materials required for current and upcoming jobs.
- Monitor outstanding purchase orders and supplier deliveries.
- Chase suppliers where required to ensure materials arrive on time.
- Check expected delivery dates and communicate any delays to the relevant team.
- Ensure materials required for production are available when needed.
- Liaise with production, purchasing, estimating and management regarding job requirements.
- Maintain accurate purchasing and production records.
- Assist with checking supplier order confirmations against purchase orders.
- Update purchase orders where quantities, prices or delivery dates change.
- Help identify material shortages that could affect production schedules.
- Maintain accurate records of orders, suppliers and job progress.
- Support the wider office and production team with general administrative duties when required.
About You
The successful candidate will be highly organised, comfortable working with computer-based systems and able to manage several jobs and purchase orders at the same time.
You should have:
- Previous experience in an administrative, purchasing, production or manufacturing environment.
- Good computer and data-entry skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- Confidence communicating with suppliers and colleagues.
- The ability to prioritise workloads and follow up outstanding actions.
- A proactive approach to solving problems.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience using MIE Trak would be highly advantageous, although training can be provided.
Previous experience within metal fabrication, sheet metalwork, engineering or manufacturing would also be beneficial.
