SIRM UK is seeking a proactive and technically capable IT Systems Administrator to join our growing team based in South Woodham Ferrers, Essex.
This is an exciting opportunity for an IT professional who enjoys a varied role combining systems administration, user support, cloud technologies, business applications, and occasional field-based technical work. You'll play a key role in ensuring our employees have reliable, secure, and effective technology solutions that support business operations across the organisation.
Working closely with the Head of Solutions, external IT partners, and internal stakeholders, you will support and enhance our IT infrastructure while contributing to ongoing technology improvement initiatives.
As part of this role, you may also occasionally travel to customer premises and onboard vessels to provide technical support for IT, networking, communications, and related systems.
What You'll Be DoingIT Systems & Infrastructure Support
- Administer and support the company's IT infrastructure, business systems, cloud services, and end-user computing environment.
- Provide first and second-line technical support to users across multiple locations.
- Support and maintain Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Intune, and related applications.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls within Microsoft Entra ID and associated platforms.
- Monitor system performance and availability, escalating issues where necessary to minimise business disruption.
- Assist with cybersecurity activities including endpoint protection, patch management, backups, and disaster recovery processes.
- Maintain accurate IT asset registers, software licensing records, technical documentation, and operational procedures.
Business Systems Support
- Support the day-to-day operation of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
- Work with users and external partners to troubleshoot issues and implement system improvements.
- Assist with system upgrades, migrations, infrastructure projects, and technology enhancement initiatives.
Vendor & User Support
- Liaise with third-party IT providers, software vendors, and service partners.
- Deliver technical guidance, user training, and support documentation where appropriate.
- Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of IT services and business systems.
Field-Based Technical Support
- Provide occasional onsite support at customer locations and onboard vessels.
- Assist with the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of IT, networking, communications, and related systems.
What We're Looking ForEssential Qualifications & Experience
- Degree, HNC/HND, diploma, or equivalent qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Networking, Electronics, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Experience supporting Microsoft 365 environments.
- Experience working with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Entra ID.
- Experience supporting Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
- Experience providing first and second-line IT support.
- Strong understanding of Windows operating systems, networking fundamentals, endpoint devices, and cloud services.
- Experience managing user accounts and permissions.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication, organisation, and workload management skills.
- Experience working with third-party suppliers and service providers.
Desirable Skills & Certifications
- Microsoft certifications in Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, Modern Workplace, or Security.
- Experience within maritime, offshore, engineering, or multi-site business environments.
- Knowledge of vessel networking, communications systems, or marine technologies.
- Experience supporting infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and business improvement projects.
- Marine or offshore certifications such as BOSIET, GMDSS, or Working at Height training.

Additional Information
This is a full-time role combining office-based work, remote support activities, and occasional travel within the UK and overseas.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Travel occasionally to customer locations and vessels.
- Work flexibly when required to support business operations.
- Participate in occasional out-of-hours support activities.
- Use display screen equipment for extended periods.
- Comply with customer site and vessel safety requirements.
- Obtain security clearance where required by customers or projects.
