Senior Womenswear Designer / Design lead
Location: London (Office Based, 5 Days Per Week)
Salary: Up to £50,000 + Benefits
The Opportunity
We are recruiting on behalf of a successful and growing apparel manufacturer supplying a broad portfolio of leading UK high street retailers and supermarket accounts. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Designer / Design Lead to take ownership of the jersey and casualwear category, combining hands-on design work with leadership of a small design team.
This role would suit a commercially minded designer who thrives in a fast-paced supplier environment and has a strong understanding of the UK retail market. You will be responsible for driving creative direction across multiple customers while mentoring and managing junior designers.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and development of seasonal jersey casualwear collections for major UK retail accounts.
Oversee and inspire a small design team, ensuring high standards of creativity and execution.
Create innovative, commercially relevant designs aligned to customer briefs and market trends.
Present concepts, trend boards and seasonal ranges to both internal and external stakeholders.
Conduct ongoing trend, retail and competitor research.
Work closely with sales, merchandising and product development teams to ensure successful delivery of ranges.
Manage workload across the design team and support individual development.
Build strong relationships with buyers and customers, responding quickly to design requests and commercial opportunities.
Ensure all design work reflects customer DNA while maintaining a fresh and contemporary edge.
Candidate Profile - must have experinece
Proven and recent experience as a Senior Womenswear Designer, Design Lead or Design Manager within jersey casualwear.
Strong background working with UK high street retailers and/or supermarket accounts.
Excellent knowledge of jersey fabrics, casualwear silhouettes, washes, graphics and garment construction.
A modern, youthful design handwriting with a strong commercial eye.
Previous experience managing or mentoring designers.
Ability to balance creativity with customer requirements and commercial objectives.
Strong presentation, communication and organisational skills.
Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite.
Commutable to London and eligible to work in the UK
