£30,000+ DOE | Remote, UK | Initially part-time freelance, progressing to full-time permanent
Fanciful Doll is an independent British fashion house creating distinctive gowns, occasionwear and statement pieces for an international customer base.
We are looking for an experienced, commercially minded marketer to take significant ownership of our marketing activity as the business enters its next stage of growth.
This is not a junior or entry-level role. We are looking for someone with strong practical marketing experience within fashion, luxury, ecommerce or another highly visual consumer brand, who is ready to take greater ownership of campaigns and progress towards leading a marketing function.
The role will initially begin on a part-time freelance basis, with the intention of progressing quickly into a full-time permanent position and, for the right person, Marketing Lead.
The Role
Your primary responsibility will be to create excitement, reach and sales around our collections and key commercial moments.
Working closely with the founders, you will take the creative direction and assets developed internally and translate them into exciting, commercially effective customer-facing marketing.
You will take significant ownership of:
- Planning and executing marketing around collection launches, product launches and major sales events
- Creating anticipation before launches and maintaining momentum afterwards
- Developing organic social strategies designed to increase reach, engagement, traffic and sales
- Planning and managing social content and Stories using existing photography, video and campaign assets
- Developing strong, shareable marketing concepts and identifying opportunities to increase organic reach
- Managing and growing our influencer and creator programme, including discovering promising new creators
- Planning influencer activity strategically around launches, sales and other key commercial periods
- Managing creator briefs, gifting, posting schedules and deliverables
- Maintaining the marketing calendar and ensuring campaigns are executed reliably and on time
- Reviewing performance and using results to improve future marketing activity
- Taking increasing responsibility for the wider marketing function as the role develops
This is not primarily a content-production or creative-direction role. Fanciful Doll's brand world, collections and core creative direction are developed internally. We want someone with their own strong marketing ideas who can understand that creative vision and translate it into marketing that reaches and excites as many relevant customers as possible.
About You
We are looking for someone with approximately 4+ years of substantive professional marketing experience, ideally within fashion, luxury, beauty, ecommerce, lifestyle or another highly visual consumer brand.
You should have:
- Strong experience planning and executing consumer marketing campaigns
- Experience working on product or collection launches
- A strong understanding of organic social media and what drives reach, engagement and sharing
- Experience managing influencers and creators
- Strong commercial awareness and an understanding that marketing ultimately needs to contribute to growth and sales
- Excellent organisation and the ability to manage multiple campaigns and deadlines
- The confidence to bring your own ideas and recommendations, rather than simply waiting for instructions
- The ability to work within an established and distinctive creative direction
- A high level of reliability, initiative and personal ownership
- The ability to work independently in a remote environment and follow projects through to completion
Experience within a premium or luxury-positioned consumer brand would be particularly valuable.
A relevant degree or MA is welcome, but practical experience, commercial judgement, creativity, reliability and the ability to take ownership are more important to us than qualifications alone.
Progression
We are deliberately looking for someone with the potential to become a key member of the business, rather than simply execute individual marketing tasks.
The successful candidate will initially work with us on a part-time freelance basis, allowing both sides to establish a strong working relationship. We expect the role to have the potential to progress quickly into a full-time permanent position, with increasing responsibility and a clear route towards Marketing Lead for the right person.
How to Apply
Please submit your CV together with a short introduction outlining your relevant experience and why the opportunity interests you.
Shortlisted applicants will be asked to complete a short situational marketing exercise before interview, focused on real-world scenarios involving fashion launches, organic reach, influencers and commercial marketing.
