Class 2 HGV Driver

Job Purpose
Due to continued growth, Rockcastle is looking for an experienced Class 2 HGV Driver to join our team in Newtownabbey.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and timely transportation of construction materials, plant, and equipment to and from construction sites across Northern Ireland. This role requires an individual who is comfortable operating within busy construction environments and committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a Class 2 HGV to transport materials, equipment, and construction supplies.
- Deliver and collect materials from construction sites, depots, and suppliers.
- Load, secure, and unload materials in accordance with company procedures and legal requirements.
- Carry out daily vehicle inspections and report any defects promptly.
- Ensure all deliveries are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
- Liaise with site managers, supervisors, and customers regarding deliveries.
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation and vehicle records.
- Ensure compliance with all road traffic legislation, driver hours regulations, and company policies.
- Keep vehicles clean, roadworthy, and presentable.
- Assist with general yard duties when required.
- Follow all company Health & Safety procedures and site rules.
Person Specification
Essential
- Valid Class 2 (Category C) HGV Licence.
- Valid Driver CPC Qualification.
- Valid Digital Tachograph Card.
- Previous experience delivering to and working on construction sites.
- Good understanding of site safety procedures.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage daily workloads.
- Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious.
Desirable
- CSR Card.
- Experience transporting scaffolding, access equipment, construction materials, or plant.
