Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Roofer to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining roofing systems on various types of buildings. This role requires a strong understanding of roofing techniques, safety procedures, and the ability to work at heights. The ideal applicant will possess relevant construction experience and be comfortable working with a range of tools and materials to deliver high-quality results efficiently and safely.
Duties
- Install new roofing systems in accordance with project specifications and schematics
- Repair and replace damaged or worn roofing components
- Use hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment to cut, shape, and secure roofing materials
- Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints to ensure accurate installation
- Perform welding and fabrication tasks as needed for customised roofing solutions
- Assist with the preparation of surfaces by cleaning, sealing, or applying protective coatings
- Work collaboratively with other construction professionals such as carpenters, masons, plumbers, and welders
- Conduct safety inspections on-site to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
- Lift heavy materials safely and efficiently while maintaining proper posture to prevent injury
- Maintain a clean work environment by organising tools and disposing of waste materials appropriately
Qualifications
- Proven experience in roofing or related construction fields such as carpentry, masonry, or plumbing
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication techniques
- Knowledge of schematics and blueprints for accurate installation planning
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and technical specifications
- Physical strength and stamina for heavy lifting and working at heights over extended periods
- Familiarity with safety standards related to roofing work including fall protection measures
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in completing tasks efficiently
- Construction experience is highly desirable; previous exposure to working with masonry or plumbing is advantageous
- Valid health & safety certifications (e.g., Working at Heights) are preferred but not mandatory
