Part-Time Estate Cleaning Operative/ Building Care
Location: Central London, Near Buckingham Palace
Working Days: Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday
Hours: 1:30pm–6:30pm
Average Hours: 15 hours per week

Rate: £12.71 per hour
Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and practical Estate Operative to maintain caretaker duties at a quiet, high-end luxury residential building in Central London.
The role combines communal-area care, general housekeeping and cleaning, routine building inspections and conduct straightforward minor maintenance. The successful candidate will work independently and take responsibility for keeping the building clean, safe, organised and professionally presented.
Main Duties
- Maintain entrances, communal corridors, staircases, landings, lifts and communal areas.
- Sweep, vacuum, mop, dust and polish appropriate surfaces.
- Clean mirrors, internal glass, lift panels, doors, fixtures and metalwork.
- Maintain staff facilities, storage areas and refuse areas.
- Remove litter, leaves and debris from external entrance areas.
- Complete scheduled detailed and periodic duties.
- Check communal areas and report defects, damage, leaks or safety concerns.
- Replenish agreed supplies and maintain organised storage areas.
- Replace accessible light bulbs and batteries where authorised.
- Tighten minor fittings, handles, screws and fixtures.
- Complete small paint touch-ups and basic decorative work.
- Assemble small shelving units or straightforward flat-pack items where required.
- Maintain accurate timesheets and task records.
- Follow all site health and safety procedures.
Person Requirements
The successful candidate should be:
- Reliable, punctual and trustworthy.
- Previous cleaning/ caretaker expereince.
- Practical and comfortable completing basic DIY tasks.
- Able to work independently and follow an agreed schedule.
- Organised, professional and attentive to detail.
- Physically able to complete routine manual duties.
- Able to communicate and report maintenance concerns clearly.
- Willing to follow health and safety instructions and use equipment responsibly.
Previous caretaking, property maintenance, housekeeping, facilities or handyman experience is desirable but not essential. Appropriate guidance and site-specific training will be provided.
