Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive General Operative – Shot Blasting & Paint Preparation to join our team. The successful candidate will support a range of workshop activities, with a primary focus on shot blasting and paint preparation. This is a hands-on role within a busy manufacturing environment, requiring a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team to achieve production targets.
4-day working week: Monday to Thursday, 7:00am – 5:30pm.
Responsibilities
- Carry out shot blasting operations to prepare surfaces for painting and finishing.
- Undertake paint preparation duties, including masking, sanding, cleaning, and preparing components to specification.
- Assist with the day-to-day operations of the workshop, including handling and moving materials and products safely.
- Operate machinery and equipment safely and efficiently, following all company procedures and safety protocols.
- Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are maintained.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the work area to promote a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with team members to meet production targets and deadlines.
- Report any equipment faults, defects, or health and safety concerns to supervisors promptly.
- Participate in training sessions to develop skills and knowledge relevant to the role.
- Carry out general workshop duties as required.
Qualifications and Experience
- Previous experience in a similar operative role is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided.
- Experience in shot blasting and/or paint preparation is highly desirable.
- Experience within a manufacturing, engineering, or industrial environment would be beneficial.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to use workplace computer systems are advantageous.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Good physical fitness, as the role may involve lifting and moving materials.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of health and safety regulations within an operational environment is preferred.
- Flexible approach with the ability to adapt to changing tasks and priorities.
