Sales Assistant – Builders Merchant

Job Type: Part time - Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 7am - 16:30
Salary: Above the nation minimum wage
About the Role
We are looking for a motivated and confident Sales Assistant to join our growing builders merchant team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys speaking with customers, building relationships, and driving new business.
A key part of the role will be cold calling potential new customers to introduce our products and services, generate new business opportunities, and build long-term customer relationships. You'll also support existing customers with quotations, orders, and excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively cold call prospective customers to generate new business.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers.
- Prepare quotations and process customer orders.
- Follow up on sales enquiries and quotations.
- Identify opportunities to increase sales across our product range.
- Work closely with the sales and warehouse teams to ensure excellent customer service.
- Maintain accurate customer records and sales activity.
What We're Looking For
- Confident and professional telephone manner.
- Previous sales or customer service experience is preferred.
- Comfortable making outbound cold calls and handling objections.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Self-motivated with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Good organisational and computer skills.
- Experience within the building supplies, construction, or builders merchant industry is an advantage, but not essential, as full training will be provided.
