Ticket Seller Traquair House – Job Description
August - October
Overall Responsibilities: To welcome visitors to Traquair House, carry out ticket sales for house and grounds and provide information about the attraction. The job is based at the ticket hut on the main drive.
Duties
· As the first point of contact for visitors to Traquair, first impressions are important. A warm welcome and courteous manner is paramount
· Deal with ticket sales transactions whether by card or cash
· Be aware of various discounts, membership cards and other promotions
· Provide brief information about the attraction and orientation. Direct visitors where to park
· Be aware of facilities and drop off points for disabled visitors
· Cash up at end of day and provide figures for office
Skills Required:
Excellent customer service skills
Previous experience of cash handling / good arithmetical skills
Computer literate – training given in digital ticketing.
Own car is preferable.
Smart appearance with branded fleece provided
Hours of work:
10.30am – 4.30/5.00pm / July and August 10am start.
Flexible working days with some weekends. This is a shared job role as the house is open 6 – 7 days per week so hours between 15 and 25 per week.
This is a seasonal position. The house is open 1st April – 31st October
House Open Hours
July and August 10.30am – 5.00pm
September 11am – 5pm (closed Fridays)
October 11am – 4pm (closed Fridays)
National Minimum Wage applies.
