Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Brick Laying Squad to join our construction team. The successful squads will be responsible for constructing, Forticrete walls and with precision and craftsmanship. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for masonry and related trades to develop their skills within a professional environment. The Squads will work on our Millerhill Edinburgh project which is a new retail unit, ensuring all work meets safety standards and quality expectations.
Duties
- Lay bricks, blocks, and stones using hand tools such as trowels, levels, and chisels to create durable structures.
- Mix mortar and apply it accurately to ensure proper bonding of materials.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to execute projects according to design requirements.
- Use power tools including drills, saws, and grinders safely and effectively to assist in masonry tasks.
- Assist with related construction activities such as carpentry, roofing, or welding when required.
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and maintains a clean work environment.
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects on time and to high standards of quality.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in bricklaying or masonry work is required.
- Proficiency in using hand tools such as trowels, chisels, levels, and hammers.
- Ability to operate power tools safely and effectively.
- Knowledge of masonry techniques including bricklaying, blockwork, and stone setting.
- Additional skills in carpentry, roofing, or welding are advantageous but not essential.
- Good physical fitness with the ability to lift heavy materials and stand for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Relevant qualifications or apprenticeships in bricklaying or related trades are desirable but not mandatory. This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects within a supportive team environment while honing specialised skills in masonry and construction trades.
Priced work is overed for this projects and is suited to excellent 2-1 squads
Pay: £12.91-£32.32 per hour
