KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
In particular, the post holder will be responsible for:
1. To organise, cook and prepare a healthy, balanced diet for children aged 0 to 5 years in accordance with the nursery menus.
2. Prepare a suitably balanced rotating menu taking into account dietary and cultural requirements of the children.
3. The preparation and service of foods to the required standards as directed by the Nursery Management.
4. To assist in the implementation of the typical day within the Nursery and Supporting other team members across the Nursery Service as appropriate. As well as using relevant transferable skills in other areas of the nursery where required.
5. Support the children in serving their own food, milk, drinks, and snacks and encourage good nutrition and sociable eating.
6. Free up Nursery Practitioners to ensure required ratios are covered when they take a break.
7. To assist with clearing away of lunchtime meals and drink which includes but is not limited to; light cleaning duties, crockery, cutlery and pan washing.
8. Undertake agreed deep cleaning routines to comply with the food standards agency requirements.
9. Assisting with regular stock checks.
10. Advising the Nursery Manager of repairs and maintenance needs when within the kitchen facilities.
11. Undertaking to provide and produce the necessary records and information systems appropriate to the post and the needs of the team. These include but are not limited to; Food temperature records, Allergens lists, cleaning records and food standard Audits.
12. Undertaking all appropriate training and staff development activity in accordance with a planned programme of development for the post.
13. Ensuring that all skills are kept current and updated with changes in legislation, and consistent with relevant qualifications.
14. Maintaining a safe and healthy working environment in accordance with Nursery’s Health and Safety policies and procedures and Food Hygiene regulations.
15. Maintaining confidentiality in accordance with the Data Protection Act.
16. To always ensure Children and adults safety, adhering to the health and safety policies and procedures. This includes but is not limited to; Risk assessments, supervise the children arriving/leaving the Nursery; and visually checking equipment and resources.
17. Ensure that all relevant work activities underpin the commitment to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults; Any concerns about a child/young person are acted on promptly, clearly recorded, referred to the nursery DSL or DSD;
18. To record and report incidents in relation to allegations/Whilst blowing on staff members who have breach the Child Protection and safeguarding policies and Legislations.
19. Undertaking any other duties and responsibilities as may be determined after negotiation between management, the post holder and appropriate Trade Unions.
