You will be responsible for creating connections between Glan Faenol and the local community, while protecting and promoting the importance of wildlife and biodiversity. Working mainly in woodlands along the Menai Strait in all weather conditions, your passion for wildlife and the outdoors will inspire others to visit and contribute to the richness of the site.
Salary: £27,612 per annum
Contract Duration: Fixed term until 31st December 2027
Working Pattern: You will work 37.5 hours per week, including some weekends, Bank Holidays and evenings.

Day to day, you will be part of the Eryri, Môn and Llŷn Countryside team, but working at Glan Faenol. You will work with other rangers and volunteers to carry out practical forestry and conservation work. You will work closely with tenants, volunteers, community groups and the public, with an expectation to lead guided walks and interpret the work of the project. To do this effectively, the ability to communicate confidently in Welsh is essential.

Following the Ymestyn gwreiddiau – Spreading Roots’ TWIG project plan you’ll prioritise and manage an effective and flexible work programme, taking responsibility for delivering small and medium projects. You’ll be undertaking conservation and access work, and will play a vital role in engaging with the public at Glan Faenol
You are responsible for building and maintaining professional relationships with external partners, colleagues, contractors, tenants and neighbouring land managers. You’ll communicate our conservation work to a wide range of audiences, both new and existing, through events, guided walks, and engagement with local communities.

We’d love to hear from you if you:
- hold a Diploma/NVQ Level 3 (or higher) in countryside or environmental conservation, or equivalent relevant experience
- have practical experience in countryside, rural, and forestry skills
- have strong wildlife identification skills
- have experience in completing risk assessments and method statements, and can demonstrate a good understanding of health and safety regulations
- have excellent communication skills, including the ability to deliver public presentations
- have an understanding and/or experience of working with volunteers
- are able to manage contractors and small projects, including budgets
- hold a full UK driving licence
