Encocam engineering are looking for a Quality Control Inspector to make sure all our products are up to standard when they leave our factory in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire.
Under our different divisions, we make composite panels, crash test dummies (also known as ATDs) and other safety products for the testing in the automotive industry. We have a mould and machine shops on site where these products are manufactured.
So, you will be responsible for quality monitoring, checking materials, and recording results to ensure all products reach the necessary specification before assembly on site and dispatch to the major car manufacturers worldwide
Role Description
Maintain quality standards by approving purchased components and materials, in-process production, and finished products and recording quality results. Maintain and assist implementation of the company’s quality system and standards. Take responsibility for the quality monitoring of manufactured components from the Stonehill site.
Key responsibilities and tasks
· Perform visual, dimensional, and functional checks of purchased components and materials, in-process and finished manufactured components, using CMM and manual measuring instruments
· Read and understand technical documents/drawings and specifications, including dimensioning and tolerancing.
· Take responsibility for acceptance or rejection of materials, in-process and finished items according to defined requirements.
· Manage reject documentation/processes in accordance with company procedures.
· Conduct root cause analysis into internal/supplier and customer quality issues using practical problem solving techniques.
· Provide a support service both to customers and suppliers, including direct liaison when required.
· Complete concessions and product investigations as required and to company procedures.
· Perform internal calibration of measurement equipment for all divisions on the Stonehill site, as directed by Q&E team manager in a timely manner.
· Keep measurement equipment operating accurately by following operating instructions, calling for repairs/calibration as required.
· Recommend adjustments to processes or products to improve their quality.
· Train other colleagues as and when required.
· Any additional work identified as necessary for the smooth operation of the business.
