We are looking for a motivated and compassionate Support and Engagement Worker to join our dedicated team.
This role provides flexible, trauma-informed support to people affected by substance user, many of whom face multiple challenges including housing issues, mental and physical ill health, offending behaviour and social exclusion.
You will work collaboratively across a range of community settings, including outreach locations, service user’s homes, partner organisations, prisons, and courts, to reduce barriers to treatment and promote positive engagement.
Using a strength-based approach, you will help individuals access the services and opportunities they need to improve their quality of life and work towards recovery.
You will carry out assessments, harm minimisation and brief interventions, develop and implement support and safety plans, undertake risk assessments and work proactively with individuals who may present with behaviours that challenge.
This role requires confident multi-agency working, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to safeguarding, equality and outstanding customer care.
You will be part of a supportive team within Middlesbrough Council, with regular supervision, opportunities for professional development, and the chance to deliver meaningful, measurable outcomes for individuals and communities.
