About the Opportunity
Join OCU Group as a Quantity Surveyor and play a key role in delivering major power infrastructure projects across Scotland. Working across substation and BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) schemes, you'll support the commercial management of projects from tender handover through to final account. This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor looking to develop their career within the growing energy and infrastructure sector, working on projects that directly support the UK's energy transition. You'll work closely with operational teams, subcontractors, and clients to ensure projects are delivered commercially, safely, and successfully. Manage the commercial and contractual aspects of projects from inception through to final account.
- Prepare and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost reports.
- Support applications for payment, valuations, invoicing, and cash collection activities.
- Administer contracts, subcontractor accounts, variations, compensation events, and change control processes.
- Procure subcontractors and suppliers, including tender preparation, evaluation, and negotiation.
- Monitor project costs and identify opportunities to improve commercial performance and project margins.
- Assist in the preparation and agreement of final accounts.
- Identify commercial risks and opportunities and support mitigation strategies.
- Build strong relationships with operational teams, clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, company procedures, and commercial governance.
Essential
- Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within infrastructure, power, utilities, energy, civil engineering, or construction sectors.
- Experience managing project costs, valuations, applications for payment, and subcontractor accounts.
- Strong understanding of contract administration and commercial management principles.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively within project teams.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Commercially aware with strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- Experience working on substation, BESS, power, energy, or utility infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of NEC contracts.
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- RICS or CICES membership, or working towards professional accreditation.
- Experience managing variations, compensation events, and final accounts.
- Exposure to high-value infrastructure projects.
