You will be confident working on the tools each day while supervising others. This role requires a hands on approach, combining practical landscaping work with leadership, problem solving, and maintaining high standards on every job. You will work with various landscaping team members and have supervisory responsibility of up to 10 people. You will be the point of contact with our customers onsite, and conduct pre work surveys, risk assessments and end of day reporting. You will also be ordering materials on some occasions and responsible for job completion. As the landscaping supervisor you will work and be an advocate of STS Industries Ltd policies and procedures. While you will oversee a team of skilled operatives and ensure projects are delivered to our high standards, you will also be actively working on the tools each day. We pride ourselves on offering a full range of landscaping services, and as Supervisor you will play a key part in delivering these services alongside your team. Within the role you would be expected to carry out and supervise the following types of Work: • Ground levelling • Decking • Patios & Pathways • Raised Garden Beds • Pergolas & Sleepers • Retaining Walls / Rendering • Driveways • Fencing • Planting • Turfing • Grass Seeding It is important to note that this list isn’t exhaustive, and there may be other tasks that that aren’t listed, that you would be expected to carry out. Within the role you will: • Task completion of assigned system workflow tasks, in the quoted timeframes to an exceptional standard. • Follow department or higher managements instructions and guidance on jobs; giving regular and appropriate feedback to the department manager. • Support your staff and Management in a proactive manner, through your communications and actions. Resolving issues where able to and escalating where necessary. • Adhering to policies, procedures and best practices when completing works and undertaking supervisor duties. About the Department The department is made up of up to 10 people, who normally work in teams of 2 people, including the supervisor. Some jobs could involve one person, and others could have the whole department working on them depending on the size and the need of the works. Collaborative working is essential. Skills & Experience Requirements Preferably you will have at least 2 years' experience in a supervisory role, and 5 years' experience in the industry. However if you if you are semi-skilled, or don't have quite the full criteria described, we do offer full training and would still very much welcome your application, and in this case, naturally the salary will be negotiable to suit your experience. You will have also have experience in the following areas; • Planning, purchasing and project completion to a high standard. • Forward thinking and pre-emptive problem solving; solution implementation that does not compromise the cost of the job to the business or the client. Key Tasks & Responsibilities • You are responsible for General Operatives on the same job. • You are responsible for works completed by your team, ensuring they are to the STS Industries Ltd.'s high standards, adhering to all relevant processes and procedures, on budget and on time. • Management of all assigned tasks and events on our workflow management application within the allotted timeframe. • Ensuring team members are fully prepared and informed of all job requirements and keeping the workflow application updated with relevant information. • Ensure works are completed in line with staff training, health and safety policies and management instruction. • Asking questions to management and giving support and guidance to your team members where required. Feeding back relevant information to your line manager regularly and in a timely fashion. • Communicate with management, colleagues and clients appropriately sharing information in line with data protection. • Assist and communicate with staff and management in regard to loading and unloading vehicles. Ensuring you are ready to leave the Yard by 08:30. • Ensure you and your staff always have and wear correct uniform and PPE, present yourself in a professional manner befitting STS Industries Ltd Quality Statement. • Ensure you and your team, use and maintain equipment, plant and vehicles to ensure they remain in good working order. Reporting any defects of equipment using the most up to date process. • Adhere and keep up to date with STS Industries Ltd policies. • Ensure works are completed in line with STS Industries Ltd quoted works and policies. • Key stakeholder engagement and management (Client, team members and any management) throughout the works, progressions and any problems that arise. There are no avoidable surprises. • Vehicles, plant and equipment are correctly and securely stored at the end of the working day. • You and your staff will be seen using equipment, plant and vehicles correctly by clients and management. Equipment, plant and vehicles will be left ready for use. Qualifications & Documents CSCS Card desirable DBS Check Recognised Industry Qualifications (Abrasive wheel, Excavator – under 10t, dumper, roller, whacker plate, laser level are all desirable) Portfolio of work Job Type: Permanent
