The Role
We're looking for a Machine Operative to join our Production team on a permanent basis.
This is an exciting opportunity to work within our manufacturing operation, producing high-quality ceramic products that are loved by customers around the world. Your primary focus will be operating our specialist Flat Making machines, which are used to manufacture ceramic products such as plates, bowls and platters.
Previous experience operating machinery is beneficial, but experience within the ceramics industry is not essential, as training will be provided. As you develop in the role, you'll also have the opportunity to train on additional production machinery, becoming a multi-skilled member of the Production team.
Working hours:
- Monday to Thursday: 7:00am – 3:30pm
- Friday: 7:00am – 2:00pm
What You'll Be Doing
- Operating specialist Flat Making machinery safely and efficiently.
- Carrying out machine start-up and shutdown procedures.
- Setting up machinery, tooling and moulds.
- Monitoring machine performance and product quality throughout production.
- Carrying out routine machine adjustments and supporting tool changes.
- Working to production schedules while maintaining high quality standards.
- Identifying and reporting machine faults or quality issues and supporting basic troubleshooting.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues to achieve production targets.
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment.
Additional Responsibilities
- Completing production and quality records accurately.
- Moving raw materials and finished products safely within the production area where required.
- Reporting any equipment issues, accidents or near misses to your line manager.
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the Production team.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment is advantageous.
- Experience operating machinery is desirable.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills.
- Good attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good time management and organisational skills.
- A proactive approach to problem solving.
- A PPT (Powered Pallet Truck) licence would be advantageous.
