Job Overview:
We are looking for a skilled Vehicle Prepper and Polisher to join our busy commercial body shop, you will be responsible for the meticulous preparation of vehicles for painting. This role involves ensuring that all vehicle surfaces are properly prepped, primed, and polished to perfection. You will play a critical role in achieving the flawless finish that meets the exacting standards of our customers. A successful candidate will work closely with our Vehicle Paint Technicians and other members of the body shop team to deliver high-quality results on every project.
Key Responsibilities include:
Prepping Vehicles for Paint:
- Prepare vehicle surfaces and panels, ensuring a smooth and even base for painting.
- Expertly mask and tape off sections that are not to be painted.
- Polishing and Buffing:
- Use advanced polishing tools and techniques to achieve a flawless, showroom-quality finish.
- Buff and polish vehicle components to perfection, rectifying any imperfections in the paintwork.
Inspection and Quality Control:
- Conduct thorough inspections of prepped and polished parts to identify and correct any defects or imperfections.
- Ensure all work meets the high standards set by both ourselves and our customers.
- Perform final inspections to confirm that vehicles are fully prepped and polished to an impeccable standard before delivery.
Collaboration and Workflow Management:
- Collaborate effectively with Paint Technicians and other team members to ensure a seamless workflow and meet strict project deadlines.
- Maintain a clean, organised workspace, and take responsibility for the care and maintenance of all tools and equipment used.
- Adhere strictly to all safety guidelines and regulations, ensuring a safe work environment for all employees.
- Follow company protocols and industry standards regarding the handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Vehicle Prepper/Polisher in a body shop environment, In-depth knowledge of vehicle preparation and polishing techniques, with an understanding of vehicle paint techniques.
- Proven ability to deliver high-quality work with exceptional attention to detail.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with other team members.
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience of using the correct polishing tools, techniques, and equipment.
- Familiarity with the latest automotive finishes and paint technologies.
- Certifications in automotive bodywork or paint preparation preferred but will also considered time served
Working Hours:
Monday to Friday: 8:00 am - 5.00 pm
Overtime available
Pay: From £16.00 per hour
