Cab My Ride is recruiting employed transport drivers to support our growing contract and private transport operation across Southampton and the surrounding areas.
This is different from a traditional taxi driving position.
You will work a scheduled shift and be continuously allocated transport work throughout the day, similar to the way delivery drivers operate a planned route. Our dispatch system will coordinate your work to keep you productive, reduce unnecessary empty mileage and move you between passenger, courier and other transport bookings efficiently.
A significant part of the role will support our University Hospital Southampton transport operation, alongside other Cab My Ride bookings where capacity allows.
You are paid for your working hours, rather than relying solely on individual trip fares.
What You Will Be Doing
During your shift, you may complete a combination of:
- Patient transport
- NHS staff journeys
- Hospital courier work
- Medication and document movements
- Equipment and records transport
- Local passenger journeys
- Corporate bookings
- Airport and station transfers
- Cruise transfers
- Hotel and private customer bookings
Your route will be managed through Cab My Ride's system.
Essential Requirements
Applicants should ideally have:
- Full UK driving licence
- Good driving record
- Excellent timekeeping
- Strong knowledge of Southampton and surrounding areas
- Professional and presentable appearance
- Good communication skills
- Ability to use a smartphone and navigation apps
- Ability to work independently
- Reliable attendance
- Calm and professional manner when transporting vulnerable passengers
For relevant passenger transport work, appropriate private hire licensing and background checks will be required.
Pay: £12.82-£18.00 per hour
