greentech has a portfolio of more than1.8GW under management and has built solar power plants with a total capacity of more than 300 MWp to date. It also has its own PV and BESS project development pipeline of more than 10 GW in the UK, Germany and Italy.
We are looking for a Project Development Officer – Planning to support our UK project development team.
The role
Reporting to and supporting the Head of Planning, you will contribute to the assessment and development of utility-scale solar PV and battery energy storage projects, from early-stage opportunity assessment through to Ready to Build.
The role will focus on planning assessments, site appraisal, mapping, plan production, project coordination and stakeholder engagement. You will work closely with the wider development team, planning consultants and other external advisers to help progress projects efficiently.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out planning desktop assessments, reviewing planning policy, site constraints and designations, and present findings to the development team.
- Undertake site visits where required and report on site suitability for solar PV and battery storage.
- Prepare site appraisal reports, planning assessments, constraints plans, site layouts, maps and other supporting documentation.
- Use CAD, GIS, Land App and other mapping or spatial-planning tools to create, update and interpret plans, layouts and technical drawings.
- Present spatial, planning and technical information clearly to colleagues and stakeholders.
- Support the coordination of planning consultants, environmental surveyors and other technical advisers, as well as engagement with local authorities, parish councils and local communities.
- Support projects through the planning, grid connection and wider development processes, tracking actions and milestones to ensure timely delivery.
- Prepare internal management approval documents and maintain well-structured project documentation in a data-room format.
- Support the wider development team and contribute to the growth of greentech’s UK renewable energy business.
- Work in accordance with applicable Health and Safety legislation and company procedures, with travel throughout the UK as required.
About you
You will be a well-organised, proactive and detail-oriented professional with a genuine interest in renewable energy development. You will be comfortable working with planning and spatial information, producing clear documents and plans, and communicating with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
You will ideally have:
- Strong computer literacy, including excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams and document-management or data-room platforms.
- Practical experience using CAD, GIS or similar mapping and spatial-planning software, with the ability to create, edit and interpret plans, maps, layouts, technical drawings and spatial data.
- Strong attention to detail when preparing planning assessments, reports and project documentation.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, with confident presentation and negotiation abilities.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
- Excellent English language skills.
- A willingness to learn, develop new skills, take on increasing responsibility and travel across the UK.
Experience in planning, infrastructure, spatial planning, GIS, CAD or renewable energy development would be advantageous. We are also interested in candidates with strong transferable skills and the motivation to develop within the role.

Pay: £30,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
