Job Title: Highways Operative Grade F (Facilities Management and Building Services)
Location: Shearlegs Road Depot, NE8 3EN
Contract Duration: 3+ Months
Working Hours: 39 hours per week

Pay Rate: £15.31 per hour
Job Responsibilities
- Carry out general highway maintenance and repair works
- Undertake traffic management and flagging duties safely
- Lay and repair kerbs
- Carry out brickwork and associated groundworks
- Perform tarmacking and road surface repairs
- Maintain pavements, roads and other highway infrastructure
- Use hand tools, machinery and equipment safely and correctly
- Follow health & safety, traffic management and site procedures
- Work effectively as part of a highways maintenance team
- Report hazards, defects and additional work requirements
Person Specification
- Proven experience in highways maintenance, construction, groundwork or a similar environment
- Practical experience of kerb laying, brickwork and tarmacking
- Experience carrying out flagging/traffic management duties is desirable
- Good understanding of highway maintenance and safe working practices
- Able to use relevant tools, equipment and machinery safely
- Physically fit and capable of carrying out manual outdoor work
- Reliable, punctual and able to work effectively within a team
- Good awareness of health & safety requirements
- Previous Local Authority or Council highways experience is desirable
- Must be able to wear required PPE, including safety boots, Hi-Vis jacket and wet-weather gear
