Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated Yardsman to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for yard operations, handling materials, and ensuring the safe and efficient movement of goods within the yard environment. Your proactive approach will help maintain smooth logistics flow, support equipment maintenance, and uphold safety standards across all yard activities. Duties
- Load and unload trucks efficiently using appropriate equipment such as forklifts and manual handling techniques
- Operate warehouse management systems to track inventory movement, shipments, and yard activities
- Perform routine equipment repairs or coordinate maintenance to ensure operational safety and reliability
- Handle materials with care, ensuring proper storage, organisation, and documentation of goods
- Assist with shipping and receiving processes by verifying shipments against orders and completing necessary paperwork
- Conduct heavy lifting tasks safely while adhering to safety protocols and ergonomic practices
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the yard area to promote a safe working environment
Requirements
- Previous yard experience or familiarity with scaffolding operations preferred
- Ability to operate forklift equipment safely; certification is a plus but not mandatory
- Mechanical knowledge or basic understanding of equipment repair is advantageous
- Strong materials handling skills with an emphasis on safety and efficiency
- Basic maths skills for inventory counts, measurements, and documentation accuracy
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and extended periods of standing or walking throughout shifts
- UK Driving Licence preferred.
