Sous Chef – Job Description
Reporting directly to the Head Chef, the Sous Chef will play a key role in the day-to-day operation of the kitchen, ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality food and exceptional standards across all services.
Working closely with the Head Chef, you will operate in tandem during key trading periods, busy services, events, and peak weekends, helping to maintain efficiency, organisation, and excellence throughout the kitchen.
On the Head Chef's days off, you will assume responsibility for the kitchen, leading the team and ensuring that food quality, presentation, cleanliness, stock control, and service standards are maintained to the same exceptional level expected by The Royal Oak.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Head Chef in all aspects of kitchen operations.
- Deliver consistently high food standards across all menus and events.
- Lead kitchen service confidently in the Head Chef's absence.
- Assist with stock management, ordering, GP control, and waste reduction.
- Maintain excellent food hygiene, health & safety, and cleanliness standards.
- Train, mentor, and support junior kitchen team members.
- Contribute ideas for menu development, specials, and seasonal offerings.
- Work collaboratively to achieve business targets and customer satisfaction goals.

Pay: £28,000.00-£32,000.00 per year
