Family Support Worker – Social Care Non-Qualified
Hours: 37 Hours Per Week (3 days remote, 2 days office/family centre)
Contract: 12-Week Temporary Contract (Start Date: 08 Sep 2026)
Location: New Road, Grays, Essex, RM17 6SL, United Kingdom
Pay Rate: PAYE £18.00 per hour
About the Role
We're recruiting a Family Support Worker to join Council's Children and Families team. This is a temporary role covering long-term sickness, ideal for someone experienced in direct work with children, young people, and families.
You'll support adoption and permanence services, coordinate life storybooks, and promote Keeping in Touch arrangements for adoptive families.
What You'll Be Doing
- Undertaking direct work with children, young people, and families
- Coordinating the completion of life storybooks with birth families, adopters, foster carers, and agencies
- Promoting and supporting Keeping in Touch arrangements, including letterbox and direct contacts
- Working collaboratively with colleagues and external partners to ensure high-quality outcomes for children
- Supporting adoption and permanence processes within Children's Services
What We're Looking For
We're seeking someone compassionate, organised, and confident in family support work.
You'll ideally have:
- Experience working with children, families, and carers
- Strong communication and coordination skills
- Ability to manage sensitive information in line with confidentiality and data protection policies
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends
- Eligibility to work in the UK
- Criminal Convictions Declaration and Confidentiality Agreement
- CV submission with 5 years' references/work history
Desirable:
- Data Protection Level 1 Training
