Due to extended company growth, with the award of several long term council framework contracts, we are looking for motivated and experienced foremen to join our growing team. You will enjoy a varied leadership role encompassing surfacing with associated groundwork/ civils projects. Typical projects include road planning, carrageway and footpath reconstruction, street works, kerbing and preparation for resurfacing projects, including aggregate leveling, shallow drainage repairs, installations, and ironwork adjustment / replacement for the resurfacing of roads and carparks. As a road surfacing foreman will have worked in the road surfacing industry, and have experience working on road surfacing contracts using aggregates and asphalts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage, lead, motivate, train and supervise your team of operatives and workers
- Safety - Supervise and ensure all operatives fully comply and adhere to all company Health, Saftey, and Environmental Polices, and Procedures.
- Deliver site inductions and daily briefings
- Cost Control - Deliver on site works to managements programme, working within the constraints and specification of the contract
- Ensure materials are laid to correct depths and levels
- Quality Assurance - Ensure full and accurate completion of all daily record sheets, dip sheets, traffic management sheets, daily plant inspection and defect reports, including any other report sheets and feedback to office
- Ensure the safe operation of the site
- Plan works, assist in developing work programmes and place orders for materials
- Raise technical queries, early warnings, and compensation events
- Complete and maintain accurate site records of work performed and materials used.
- Training - To attend programmed training as and when required, and identify training requirements of your team. Encourage the development of your team members, training gang members to provide sufficient skills to meet contingencies such as holiday relief and sickness cover
- Seek to recruit gang members to provide continuity in the workforce
- To carry out any reasonable task as requested by a member of management
- Plant Security, Damage and defects - Ensure plant is safely parked and secured on site, with any damage or defects reported immediately.

Key Skills and Requirments :
- Strong leadership and management abilities
- Experience of leading, managing and developing others
- Ability to work calmly under pressure with minimal supervision
- Understanding of operation and maintenance requirements of plant and machinery
- Asphalt surfacing and groundwork / Civils experience
- Understanding of drawings and specifications
- Ability to measure and quantify materials, priotitize tasks and meet deadlines
- Experience in setting levels and measuring up
- Hold a valid UK driving license
- Valid up to date CSCS, CPCS or NPORS
- SSSTS (desirable)
- NRSWA operative and supervisor status (desirable)
- Familiar with NEC contract (desirable)
- Attained NVQ Level 6 (desirable)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of construction processes and techniques
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Attention to detail and quality control
- Flexable in terms of hours worked and travel.
