About David Mellor
David Mellor is a celebrated British design company, known for beautifully made cutlery, tableware, kitchenware and carefully chosen craft and design-led products. Our Marylebone shop is our biggest store to date, located just off Marylebone High Street, and showcases the full David Mellor Collection alongside an extensive range of tableware, kitchenware and British craft.
The Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and commercially minded Assistant Manager to support the day-to-day running of our Marylebone store. Working alongside the Store Manager, you will help create a welcoming shop experience, deliver exceptional customer service, share the stories behind our products, support colleagues on the shop floor and play a valued part in our small team.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Store Manager with daily operations, sales performance and team leadership.
- Deliver knowledgeable, warm and attentive service to customers, including advice on cutlery, tableware and kitchenware.
- Support, encourage and guide the retail team so everyone feels confident, valued and able to do their best work.
- Help keep the shop looking beautiful, calm and inviting, with displays that reflect the quality and care behind the David Mellor range.
- Take care of stock management, replenishment, deliveries, pricing and everyday administration with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Help customers with orders, enquiries and after-sales service in a patient, organised and professional way.
- Lead by example and look after the store when the Store Manager is away.
- Bring ideas, energy and warmth to help the shop grow its customer relationships and local presence.
About You
- You will already be working as a senior sales assistant, supervisor or assistant manager, ideally in premium retail, interiors, homeware, design, fashion or lifestyle.
- You are passionate about excellent customer service and helping customers choose things they will use and treasure.
- You are warm, approachable and confident speaking with customers and colleagues.
- You are organised, practical and happy to be hands-on, whether that means serving customers, supporting the team or helping with stock.
- You have excellent attention to detail and take pride in keeping a shop looking beautiful and well cared for.
- You understand the importance of sales and commercial results, while never losing sight of excellent customer service.
- You are flexible and happy to work retail hours, including weekends.
- A genuine interest in design, craftsmanship, quality products and cooking would be a strong advantage.
Location and Hours
David Mellor Marylebone, 14 New Cavendish Street, London W1G 8UW.
This is a full-time role of 40 hours per week and will include weekend working on a rota basis. 9.45am - 6.30pm (Mon-Sat), 10.45am - 5.00pm (Sun)
Salary
£32,500 per annum
